On Wednesday the 22nd of May the 2nd XI cricket travelled away to Duke of Kent. Blessed with a dry day things got under way well with George Kapff and Sam Mayhew opening the batting and seeing out the first few overs. Though scoring was fairly slow, we did not lose a wicket until quite a few overs into the innings. The 2nd wicket of Ian Browne fell soon after that by means of a run out. The boys worked hard in the middle, and at the end of the 20 overs had scored 44 for the loss of 3 wickets.

This was going to be a tough challenge to keep Duke of Kent under 44 however the boys seemed up for the challenge, starting well with not many runs coming off the first 4 overs, as well as Evan Penlington grabbing 3 wickets for himself. Unfortunately the score proved to be 2 low and the runs were reached within the 12th over.

Even though a loss was recorded we are making steady progress. Our bowling is getting stronger and is by far the stronger part of our game. Batting wise, only losing 3 wickets is a massive improvement, so well done boys, and keep working hard.  DH
