All the year 7 girls represented the 2nds for their match against Cottesmore. Even though the home side had four girls that could smash the ball very far, the girls fielded really well during their 1st innings. Katie and Rosie got everyone cheering as they got a player out off the 3rd ball and a couple of balls later Khushi, at backstop, got her range and fired them home to Rosie on 1st post to once again stump batters out. Everyone contributed in the field and every high ball was caught by Sheen, Lily and Khushi.

The girls had their turn to bat and got off to a good start, thanks to Rosie’s strategic placement of the ball to 1st deep. Lily, Josie and Khushi contributed ½ a rounder each, before Sheen unfortunately got stumped out at 3rd post. The visiting side slowly added ½ rounders but fell 3 rounders short at the end of the innings.

Copthorne continued their sharp fielding in the 2nd innings, limiting the opposition to only 6 ½ rounders with Khushi and Rosie once again combining well together. Josie, at 3rd post, stepped up her game and closed down many ground balls to prevent Cottesmore from getting to 2nd post.

The girls had a big challenge ahead of them if they were to close in on the final target. Rosie again got the team off in the right direction as she added 2 ½ more rounders.  Sheen, Lily and Josie helped maintain the scoreboard ticking over. The girls were really going for the big hits but, unfortunately, miss timing them straight up into the air to be caught out, falling 4 rounders short.

Well done to Josie and Rosie for being voted players of the match. Everyone deserves a well done as you all contributed and worked well as a team.

Team: Rosie (3 ½), Khushi (1 ½), Ilana, Sheen (½), Lily (2 ½), Katie (½), Katherine, Josie (3) and Lara (½)
