3rd IX Football v Cumnor House

20th November 2015

The lads had a rough game on Wednesday, both weather and game wise. To their credit though they started the game with a great attitude in poor weather and with a very rushed warm up. The first half consisted of the opposition holding most of the possession but our defence held up the whole half with countless saves from William F and ultimately we went into half time the game a draw. The boys came out again in the second half ready to go but when we conceded our first goal and goal keeper got injured the gates opened up for the opposing team. Toby C, Arjun B, Jonathan C-L and Nicholas H did offer us some chances to score however we were unable to capitalize on any of them.

Mention has to go to William F for playing on, out of goal, with what was later found out to be a fractured wrist. Overall boys should be proud of how they didn’t give up the whole game, fighting right until the end and giving Cumnor house a tough, physical contest in what was for the most part a tight game. In the end the boys did end up losing 6 – 0 against a very talented opposing team but everyone gave it their best and actually played some decent football. MG
