3rd IX Football v St Christopher’s

13th November 2015

Drew 2-2

The boys came out firing this Wednesday, although the weather was quite the opposite; Austin scored a beautiful quick goal which was lovely to see after the team had conceded a lot of early goals this season. However, soon after that, the boys let in a goal to even up the score to 1-1 very early in the game. It was then that Copthorne really started to step up and apply pressure on the opposition, the midfield of – Austin, Nicholas and Nile playing very well. Eventually the pressure paid off and the ball managed to find its way into the back of the net from an own goal. Nevertheless St Christopher’s answered straight back, which evened the score up 2-2 going into half time. In the second half our back 3 – Jack, Freddie and Raymond – and goalie Arjun performed very well to keep the opposition scoreless. Also our two boys up front Toby and Jonathan played very well providing a lot of pressure and opportunities; however the ball didn’t find its way into either net – the final result being 2–2. The boys played well but I think they know that they could have easily won that game and are a little disappointed themselves. Overall it is great to see the team constantly improving, this was some of the best football they have played, showing great passing, movement and shooting, unlucky not to come away with the win but the boys should be proud of how far they have come.
