3rd VI Indoor Hockey v Hazelwood

6th November 2015

Won 1-0

This was the first game of the season for the thirds and they made it count with a 1-0 victory over Hazelwood. Strong running from Ilana and Lara caused the Hazelwood defence problems in the first half. Solid defending from Maddie and Vania kept the Hazelwood attackers out of the D for much of the first half. They were also supported well by Lily who worked hard and tackled back well. Neither side could find the crucial goal in the first half and the score stayed at 0-0.

The second half saw the introduction of Jemima who added some more energy into the team’s attack. Both teams squandered good chances to score but finally the ball broke to Ilana in the D and with time and space to pick her spot, she did so well putting the ball to the left of the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner. From here it was an even game with both teams attacking to find another goal but neither side could quite find enough space to get a clear shot on goal. The final whistle went to give a well-earned 1-0 victory to Copthorne.

Well done to all the girls. For most it was their first full match and all the girls tried their very best.
