Copthorne were quick off the mark using their first centre pass to set the pace and it wasn’t long before Alana scored the first goal. Our movement on the court was fast-paced which allowed us to break free from Cumnor. Our attackers Ruby H, Emily and Beth were relentless and as a result both our shooters placed 6 goals by the first quarter. Although we gave away a couple of penalties for obstruction as we got too close when marking, this week’s focus during training certainly paid off. Our defenders; Mallory, Ruby O and Alayna worked hard to prevent Cumnor from scoring.
Our second quarter was just as strong although speed had effected our accuracy and we gave the ball away needlessly as a result. However, this did not hinder our scoring another 4 goals. By half time the score was 10-3.
Our third quarter was probably our best as Copthorne were more careful with their passes. There were some excellent interceptions by all our girls. As a result Copthorne held most of the play scoring from only three passes from the centre pass! Due to our lead 17-5 it was decided that Copthorne’s shooters would be changed and as a result the final quarter only saw one Copthorne goal from Ruby O which was unfortunately disallowed.
Copthorne’s U10s were hoping to beat their record score of 21; however that will have to wait for another day. So well done girls! LD
