Colts ‘E’ & ‘F’ Football v Pennthorpe

For the first time ever, due to the advent of 7 a side soccer at this age group we were able to field an E and F team. Firstly great thanks to Pennthorpe for fielding similar sides. What a pity the weather had decided to change shortly before the kick off to produce what had to be the wettest day of the year so far! This meant that all our boys in the Under 11 group would have a representative game for the school. I have to say that there was a lot of honest endeavour from all the boys which was very satisfying. The Fs were on first and despite some heroic efforts from the defence went down by 3 goals to nil. Special mention to Ted Leen for his breaks especially in the second half and Oliver Blake for his no nonsense tackles! The Es played with similar enthusiasm and it was clear from the off that no one would be allowed to pass the twin towers of Ross and Jack at the back who  demonstrated the “they shall not pass” motto of defending. Although we huffed and puffed we could not get a clear scoring opportunity and so the game ended in a 0-0 draw which was probably a fair result in the end. Well done to all those who played and also a big thank you to the supporters who braved the atrocious weather conditions.
