This Tuesday we travelled to Brambletye for the annual 6-a-side tournament hoping to improve on our performances at the Lancing tournament a week earlier.
Game 1 v St Christophers
This was a close fought game and we worked very hard to defend against a strong opponent. Our whole team played well, but we conceded an unlucky goal with a minute to goal as Liban slid in to block a shot only for it to deflect over Cosmic in goal.
Game 2 v Ashdown
We dominated this game and should have won it, if we had finished off one of the numerous good chances that came our way. Luca hit the post with a nice shot, and Esaam also could not quite find the back of the net in this game which finished 0-0.
Game 3 v Brambletye
We were not quite at our best for this game having been a little frustrated in the first two. Brambletye were the better team and the eventual winners of the tournament and they deserved the 2-0 result in this game.
We qualified for the plate semi final as the 3rd placed team in our group (thanks to goal difference).
Plate Semi Final v Belmont
This close game was very tight with Belmont having slightly the better of it, but it ended 0-0 at full time. We went into extra time and I think some of our boys were just trying to hang on for a penalty shoot out. This was not to be as Belmont won it with a golden goal after bundling in from a corner.
7th/8th place play off v Ashdown
The afternoon dragged on as we had to play our group rivals Ashdown again for the wooden spoon. This time we managed to get a goal thanks to Sam R, and this at least saw us finish the day with a win.
Well done to all the boys on a better performance today, and thanks to the parents who supported us!
