Colts A Cricket v Cottesmore

On a sun kissed afternoon the Colts A produced their finest performance of the season. Every aspect of their game clicked into place.

Cottesmore batted first and found it difficult to get away our opening bowlers of Toby and Zach. Our bowlers were well supported in the field as we executed a fine run out through Cannell/Holland/Varney, plus catches from Hannah and a fine tumbling effort from Preen. Cottesmore continued to find our bowling challenging to get away and at one point we had them 29 for 8 off 16 overs and this was in no small measure to Tom who produced a fantastic spell  4 overs 1 maiden 4 runs for 5 wickets. Cottesmore

managed to put together a partnership of 26 in the last 4 overs to get them to 55 from 20 overs.

We came out to bat after tea like we had a train to catch. Andre and Toby got us off to a fantastic start with Andre straight driving their opening bowler for  4 twice in the second over. Toby took a liking to the bowling of their skipper and duly dispatched him to the leg side boundary on a couple of occasions, plus one shot that rocketed into the trees before the fielders could blink. We lost Andre (11) with the score on 35 from 7 overs and this brought Zach to the crease who hit his first ball for 4. Zach then hit the

winning runs with a 6 meaning the boys had chased down the total in only the 9th over.

A thoroughly professional performance, long may it continue and Double Effort Stars to ALL the team.

Team, Toby ©, Andre, Zach, Yonis, Matthew, Tom, Dylan, Oliver, Chris, Will (wkt), Nabil
