Colts A Cricket v Hazelwood

22nd April 2016

First game of the cricket season is always an interesting affair. We knew from other sports fixtures that Hazelwood are a strong sporting school and so it proved to be this afternoon. We put them into bat and started fantastically taking 2 wickets in the first over leaving them 0-2. This proved to be one of the high points of the game as Hazelwood recovered to finish 131/6 in 20 overs. Ali H took 3 wickets, Louis R 1 wicket and a couple of good run outs from Ali and Louis were our rewards in the field. 131 is a tough target to chase in Colts A and we unfortunately failed to get close to their total. Sometimes in sport you have to hold your hands up and say you were beaten by a better team. I was pleased with some of the aspects of our fielding performance and it was good to see that when the boys batted they all played straight but there are things to work on over the coming weeks. Windlesham next week and this will be another tough fixture. IP
