Colts ‘A’ Football v Shoreham College

Scorers – Liban and Jake

Our season got off to a smooth start on a blazing hot day and a small pitch down at Shoreham. We played 6 a side, but 9 boys in total got at least 10 minutes of game time so it was a good run out for the whole squad on their first competitive match.

We dominated the game and deserved the win, but will need to improve for some of the matches that lie ahead. We kept the ball slightly better and dominated territorially too, with Luca getting off several shots without finding the back of the net. Liban and Jake did well in mid-field and it was Liban who scrambled a shot just over the line to put us ahead. Esaam and Sam R both came on and played very well for Year 5’s up against older boys. Louis R showed that he could do a good job both in mid-field and in defence, and Ewan and James were very solid at the back. Cosmic did not have that much to do, but looked very solid again for us in goal. In the second third of the game Jake pounced on a bad clearance and fired a good shot past the keeper to secure the win.

Well played boys, we passed the ball quite well, but we need to work hard in training to link up better and learn what our roles in the team are.
