Like all matches the girls were really keen and looking forward to their final match of the season.
Copthorne unfortunately got off to a shaky start as we struggled with our accuracy of passes, easily allowing the home side to intercept the ball. The first half was a tough battle for the defenders but thanks to Sophia and Abigail we managed to keep the opposition quiet in the D. It was only a matter of time before Notre Dame opened the scoring and as soon as the first one went in the next two came quickly afterwards. It might have been 3-0 at half time but Copthorne did have their chances on numerous occasions but could not find our range this week.
The second half the girls tried to focus on the basics of keeping the ball on their strong side and getting the ball into space. Marking was a lot tighter and therefore made life harder for the opposition. We were also a lot more switched on in the D and attacked with purpose, this helped Emma score Copthorne’s only goal of the afternoon. The girls continued to fight hard for the ball, especially Beth (player of the match) but could not stop the home side from getting one last goal.
Well done to all the girls and I hope you all enjoyed your hockey this season. HP
