Colts A XI Cricket v Hazelwood

After only two net sessions the Colts A were thrust into action against Hazelwood. The game was actually played at Limpsfield Chart CC which game the match a sense of occasion. We lost the toss and were put into bat on a slow and spongy track.

To be honest our innings never really got going as we missed the opportunity for some quick singles and lost early wickets. Zach gave the innings some much needed impetus striking 4 boundaries in his knock of 20 and he was supported well by Yonis 14 and Andre 7*  to get our score to a defendable 75. The bowling was to be the key and we started superbly with both Andre and Zach picking up wickets. Tom bowled a fantastic spell of 4 overs conceding only 6 runs. But things started to get away from us as the extras started to mount up. We gave away 24 extras in total and this proved to be the key. Hazelwood gained their victory in the penultimate over by 3 wickets. I like to say thank you for the support the parents gave and to the behavior of all the boys who were fantastic all afternoon and looked very smart in their blazers before and after the match. Toby led the team with good knowledge and I can already see a good team spirit forming so looking for to next week’s game and good week of training.  IP
