Colts B Cricket v Great Walstead – Summer 2017

25th May 2017

It was a sunny day and once again I had an enthusiastic group of boys, ready to play cricket and keen to do well. We fielded first and against a strong side we managed to keep them to 120. After 16 wides last week, we only bowled 5 this week which was a big improvement . In all, we used 9 bowlers and they all did their job.

Batting second, we were suddenly 14-5 due to brilliance in the field from Great Walstead. It started with a high hard catch which would have had many adult club cricketers running away from it and this was followed by two diving one handed catches and a direct hit run out. The boys however recovered and we finished with a respectable 83.

All the boys had opportunities to bat for at least 10-12 overs but didn’t. Boys please bat your ability and not your number in the order, not everyone can bat at number 1 or 2 … get your opportunity and grab it.

The boys are working well and improving which is important and many are pushing for an A team place .

Boys that’s cricket….. The phrase  “catches win matches ” has never been more true.
