Colts B Hockey v Hazelwood

6th November 2015

Won 7-2

After an eventful journey involving a diversion, the Colts B arrived at Hazelwood eager to get going! All of the girls had worked extremely hard in training this week and were excited to be playing on the grass, or so we thought! However on arrival it was decided that we would not be playing on the grass, but in fact on Hazelwood’s tennis courts playing ‘diagonal hockey’ which was a new experience for us all!

Despite this the Colts got stuck in, due to the diagonal hockey being played it took a while for the girls to adjust to the space and play, and although the Colts scored first with a great goal from Alana, it was closely followed by a goal from Hazelwood to level the score. Another great goal followed shortly after from Tali, but again Hazelwood followed suit!

The Colts really began to step up their game dramatically, completely dominating Hazelwood and leaving them trailing for the rest of the match; with another 5 goals from Alana, Beth, Tali and Emily who scored 2, with the entire centre and mid players getting on the scoreboard!

In defence, Mallory and Freya, with Grace in goal also stepped up, and as a result they allowed Hazelwood no further opportunity to score, so when the final whistle blew Copthorne took the match 7 goals to 2!

Despite the wobbly start today due to the new ‘diagonal hockey’ being played, the Colts B should be pleased with their performance today and I still think there is more to come from this team!

Player of the match today picked by Hazelwood was Freya and my player of the match was Beth, for her sheer determination and tireless runs!

Well done to all of the Colts B, keep it up! TC

Beth 1, Emily 2, Alana 2, Tali 2, Mallory, Freya & Grace
