Colts ‘C’ & ‘D’ Football v Cumnor House

16th November 2016

So the final game of the season was upon us and history was within the grasp of the boys.

Colts ‘C’ v Cumnor House
The ‘C’ Team started brightly and were immediately on the front foot with some early pressure from Luke and Jake. The pressure finally paid off as Jake curled a beautiful shot into the top corner. More good news was to follow shortly after as Luke latched onto a through ball and fired into the net. These two goals gave us a cushion but we seemed to relax a little as Cumnor came back into the match. We then conceded our first goal in 7 games as the ball was cruelly deflected past Matthew to bring the scores back to 2-1 at half-time. The second half was an exciting affair as both teams went on the hunt for more goals, in fact both teams hit the post a couple of times but couldn’t add to their account. Ewan had a fantastic game in midfield, Archie linked the play well and once again Ronnie and Ali were solid at the back. So the C’s won their final match to give them a perfect season played 7 won 7. The quality of football that has been played by these boys has been the best I have seen at this level.

Won 2-1
Team: Matthew, Ronnie, Ali, Ewan, Jack, Archie, Luke

Colts ‘D’ v Cumnor House
It was now over to the D’s to play the last match of the season and once again an unbeaten season was up for grabs. The first half was a little bit of a scrappy affair as both teams failed to create any real clear cut chances with the defenders coming out of top in each contest. A few quick words at half-time seemed to do the trick as our pace of play quickened and our midfield of Ruari, Henri and Alex started to control the game as they pushed further up the field. We took the lead when Alex put pressure on their back line and forced the ball home. Cumnor however started to look dangerous themselves but William made a couple of decent stops and Thomas and Rian always seemed to be in the right place at the right time but they deservedly got their equaliser via cruel deflection. With only minute left in the game Thomas played the ball through to Finley who raced through to calmly finish in the far corner to win the game. Well played boys I have been very impressed with your commitment and improvement over the term. Played 6, won 5, drawn 1.

Won 2-1
Team: William, Rian, Thomas, Alex, Henri, Rauri, Finley

This has been a fantastic season for both teams. It has been the most successful campaign the C’s and D’s have had in a decade. Congratulations to all the boys and a big Thank you to the parents who have supported us.
