Cold, drizzle, wind and playing in a mixed team didn’t stop the enthusiasm of the Colts C team against Brambletye. Emily V captained the team really well and from second post encouraged the girls to keep alert when fielding. Copthorne lost the toss and were put into bat, scoring 2½. Brambletye then scored 7 in their first innings which meant Copthorne had to improve in their second innings. They became more confident and allowed themselves to hit the ball into different areas of the pitch making the Brambletye girls scrabble around when fielding. Having scored a respectable 7 rounders the girls only lost by 3½ rounders.

Lacey bowled in the oppositions first innings and Kimberley and Simi bowled in their second innings. There was some good fielding at the posts and in the deep but it would have been even better if the Colts concentrated at all times and remembered to back-up their team mates.

Well done Emily V, Kimberley, Robin, Sophie, Lacey, Mia, Simi, Tia, Lilya and Emi. A special mention should go to Lilya who played in her first match and to Mia who was chosen as Player of the Match by the Brambletye girls. After two weeks of cold and wet weather let’s hope we have some sunshine next time!
