Colts ‘C’ v Brambletye

14th September 2016

This first game of the season is always an interesting affair and this proved to be the case against close neighbours Brambletye. The match was played in weather more suited to the cricket season and this possibly had an influence on the pace of the game. We dominated possession in the first half without creating any real clear cut chances, but the breakthrough eventually came when Ali put in a cross from the right hand side that managed to drop over the keepers head and into the net. We managed to double our lead before the break when Henri turned in the box and shot towards the goal. The ball took a couple of deflections before ending up in the back of the net.

The second half saw us play better football as the boys tried to use the full width of the pitch. Ben found himself in the right place on two occasions after good work from Archie to bag a brace and Nicholas also found the net at the end of a move that involved almost all of the outfield players. Ronnie and Thomas rarely looked troubled at the back and Matthew had virtually nothing to do the whole match. So a comfortable win 5-0 but I think there will be tougher challenges ahead throughout the season.

Goals. Ben x 2, Nichols, Ali, Henri
Team. Matthew B, Ronnie S, Thomas S, Ali H, Henri B, Archie M, Ben S, Nicholas C.
