Colts ‘E’ & ‘F’ Football v Pennthorpe

22nd September 2016

What a fantastic day with our ‘E’ & ‘F’ teams taking on the Pennthorpe ‘E’ team. Every available U11 boy at Copthorne was representing the school. The F’s were first up and I was delighted by the levels of commitment, enthusiasm and determination shown by the boys. Perhaps not the best of players but what a performance from them all. Jake played in goal due to the absence of one of the team and Louis and Alexander had a “they shall not pass” attitude at the back. Freddie and Harry were tireless in the middle and Andrew and Luke ran good lines up front. Despite our efforts the game was heading for a draw when a long range effort found the target leaving us on the wrong end of a 1 – 0 score. Such a shame after all the work, as I really felt a draw would have been a fair result. I thoroughly enjoyed the game as did the boys so well done all.

The E’s looked the stronger side straight from the kick off although rather selfish play in the first half meant we did not really prosper. Nobody seemed capable of making a pass which meant there were lots of good runs which came to nought. The second half was a massive improvement with quick passing resulting in a deserved 4-0 victory. The boys Daniel, Christopher, Lucas, Hamish, Retan, Sonny and Jake saw the benefits of the passing game and will go on to improve even more. Well done lads a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
