Colts F Football v Pennthorpe – Lost 0-3

Team:  Charlie A (GK), Michael K, Lucas R-O, Louis A, Robbie E, Archie M, Elliott Y

Football is a game of two halves, and unfortunately the damage was done before Copthorne could really get going.  An early spirited display was swiftly undone with a quick goal that could easily have been prevented. The second goal, despite a fantastic save from Charlie, fell kindly for the striker to tap into the empty net at the second attempt. In the tough conditions, the midfield continued to try their hardest but could not keep the ball moving due to a determined Pennthorpe side. However, the second half showed that Copthorne could take the game to Pennthorpe. Robbie ran his socks off for the whole game and looked dangerous on a few runs after beating a couple of defenders like they weren’t even there. However, the few chances that were created could not be capitalised upon and a third Pennthorpe goal against the run of play was conceded, again only resulting from a couple of missed clearances. At the end of the day, the effort of each player cannot be questioned in these unexpected Tropical conditions and with a few less mistakes the game would have been a lot closer than the score line suggests.  Man of the Match: Robbie.  CD
