Copthorne (Mixed year 3 and 4’s) vs Hazelwood

6th October 2017

The boys travelled through the countryside en route to the fixture against Hazelwood which they approached and got ready for, with great excitement as always.

Upon kick off, the boys went straight for an attacking style of play which overwhelmed our opponents but unfortunately, it didn’t stop them from scoring the opening goal and we fell 1-0 behind. Prior to the goal and certainly after it, Matthew W made tremendously good stops. Charlie A burst forward tremendously well up front and even though we dominated possession and play, we couldn’t crack the Hazelwood defence. After going 2-0 down, we continued to push on even harder than before. Second half shot stopper Harrison B played superbly well. Charlie’s continuously good runs allowed Alfie a good supporting role and when he got the ball, he slotted it home to get us right back in the game. Unfortunately, we fell down to 4-1 but this wasn’t a clear reflection of just how well Tobi A played at the back-Excellent match he had!

Leo made terrific runs down the line, and got the second goal in sublime fashion. Eddie made excellent runs and played his heart out, getting in on goal quite frequently, but was closed off last minute by Hazelood defenders.

All in all, I am very proud of the way the boys played and they can certainly lift their heads up high for the upcoming fixtures.

Outstanding efforts, boys!

Final score: Copthorne 2-4 Hazelwood
