Copthorne U8B vs Ardingly

12th October 2017

On what seemed like a rather rainy, gloomy afternoon, the boys’, in great excitement, travelled down to Ardingly Prep school to play their fourth game of the week following 3 games in a quadrangular on Tuesday afternoon!

The boys burst forward with great energy and dominated the opposing team in their own half for what certainly was, the majority of the game! We created plenty of opportunities yet couldn’t turn them into goals. However when Ardingly turned over possession and came forward, we had the might of Tobi A at the back as our ‘brick wall’ and he and Jack F let no man pass through them. Beautiful defending boys!

Freddie G and Caelan D burst forward superbly well and after the break at half time, Caelan D did fantastic work to slot home what turned out to be, the winning goal! Harrison B came extremely close to making our score line greater, and his influence in the middle was outstanding! What an asset he proved to be! Oliver W kept stability for us in the middle of the park and distributed the ball out well where necessary. Eddie L came out as an extremely enthusiastic midfielder and his tracking back to defend and his breaks forward were very valuable to the team’s victory. Toby F did really well at the back with the defence and his runs going forward with the rest of the team were excellent and he made really great tackles in the game throughout!

You boys played your hearts out and did extremely good work on the pitch and I am very proud!

Well done lads!

Final score: Copthorne 1- Ardingly
