U9 Indoor Hockey v Lancing

Well what another great afternoon of sport for the U9s, and after yesterday’s excellent matches the girls put in another strong performance today!

The first team to play consisted of Clara, Elise, Alice, Natasha, Madeleine, Maddie and Madison. From when the whistle blew this team were all over Lancing and dominated the play, as a result an early goal was scored by Clara soon followed by a goal from Elise. At half time Copthorne were 2-0 up. In the second half of the match this team started to use the space of the pitch more and think about the game, linking better together resulting in four more goals, a hat trick from Alice and a further goal from Elise putting Copthorne’s final score at 6 goals to 0.Well done girls!

The second team to play consisted of Ami, Emilie, Yelena, Amber, Ellie, Hermione and Emily. This team again dominated the play, chasing any loose balls and tackling well using this to their advantage. Seven goals were scored in the first half alone- two from Yelena, one from Ami, one from Ellie, one from Amber, one from Emilie and one from Hermione, a great first half! A special mention must be said about Ami who performed a fantastic save to stop Lancing from scoring in the first half. As a result of this team’s extremely strong performance changes were made, and some of the team that played first for Copthorne made a reappearance. Copthorne continued to stay strong in the second half of the match with lots of near misses, and a further goal was scored from Clara as well as Lancing scoring there first goal resulting in the final score being 8-1 to Copthorne. Well done girls!

It was a great afternoon of Hockey for the U9s and it was lovely to see the girl’s improvement since there first match, however there is still room for lots more! On the whole though there was some great play from the U9s resulting in 9 out of the 14 girls scoring today, good work girls! Thank you to all the encouragement from the supporters today and for Miss Cook’s help! T.C
