After a long journey we were asked to bat. Our openers Charlie Ead and Bradley Gayler had to endure a hostile opening spell from 2 Sussex players who bowled with real fire. In a 20 over game it was important to pace our innings but we were pinned back early on. Thanks to some sensible batting we were keeping the score board ticking over nicely.
Henry ‘Pieterson’ Dayus came into the middle order for a quick fire 20 ably supported by Jonny Howard, Charlie Frances, Rob White, Josh Norman, Kai Everington before tail enders Ryan Spivey and Milan Nayee saw us to a total of 69. We needed early wickets in order to compete but despite some great bowling from the side and some excellent keeping from Ben Swadling we could not stop them reaching the total after 10 overs.
We did not drop a catch, give a wicket away or miss field a ball, we were simply beaten by a better side who were County finalists last year. This was a good solid performance.
