Colts C Cricket v Pennthorpe

Due to the fixture list, there was a reshuffle in the Colt Cs team sheet as the squad was bolstered by the addition of five regular Colt Bs players.

Having won the toss, we elected to bat. Despite a shaky start, we soon began to find out feet. Kye and Zevon built up a strong partnership before they were retired after 10 overs. Elliott and Teja then saw out the remaining overs and kept the scoreboard ticking over through positive running between the stumps and by finding the boundary with a few big hits.

Into the second innings, our bowling/fielding began as strongly as our batting ended. From his first over, Shaun picked up a maiden wicket and followed it with another strong over that allowed Pennthorpe only a single off twelve balls. This heralded a flurry of fallen wickets from Austin, Ameer and Akshay, who demonstrated that if you bowl a good line and length you will pick up wickets.

Our fielders were also equally sharp with Ben, Sam S, Sam D and Jamie in particularly good form – either preventing byes from our fast bowlers or taking catches.

Overall, a well -deserved win and a fitting end to a successful season.
