Duke of Kent 7’s

The under 13’s went to their second tournament of the week having used Windlesham as a learning curve. Our opening game against The Heights from Haselmere showed that we were at last working as a team with a real determination. Everybody stood up and made their tackles resulting in a comfortable 40 – 0 victory. You could see the confidence grow and this was taken into the second match against More House from Farnham. Again a comfortable win 26 – 5. Once again this was based on good defence and good 7’s resulting in a variety of scorers over the two games. The final and deciding match was against the hosts which, despite a herculean effort, we went down 15 – 12. Disappointing but nonetheless very rewarding to see, at last, a group of boys who really wanted it and worked with a passion throughout. The final score from Ben W was, in my opinion, the best of the tournament in that it represented good 7’s play with all 7 of the boys involved several times in the move. Our spirit was summed up by the injured and limping Ally who still managed to make a try saving tackle. Well done boys, really proud of you even though this our 4th runners up in the 4 year history of this tournament!!
Congratulations to two of the side, Elliot and Josh, whio have been awarded sports scholarships to Christ’s Hospital school.
