2nd XI v Pennthorpe

For the first time this season the gallant seconds were completely outplayed by the opposition who gave us a lesson in commitment on a very hot day probably more conducive to cricket than soccer. Although we huffed and puffed on occasions Pennthorpe simply had a better set of players some of whom would not have been out of place in our First’s.
I have to commend Luca, who played his socks off and Ryan, who was left exposed so often it was untrue, but overall we were given a real lesson today and I am sure that we will learn from it. We simply need to be more forceful and determined in the contact areas of the field.
A big defeat which I hope we will use top our advantage as the season progresses. None of us felt good at the end so we put it behind us and move on.
