Girls 1st VI Tennis v Cottesmore

Being aware that this match was going to be lot tougher than last week’s match against Cumnor, the girls stepped onto the courts with a positive frame of mind and a willingness to do their best and enjoy their tennis. All three pairs got off to a slow start losing their first round matches. With a few pointers here and there the girls set off to improve on their scores. Joanna and Katie looked like a different pair and cruised through their next match. Although our 2nd and 3rd pairs lost their second matches they managed to get on the scoreboard. Joanna and Katie came really close to winning their last match but narrowly missed out in the deciding tie-breaker. Meg and Veronica came up with some good shots and rallies but struggled to put the ball out of Cottesmore’s reach and just not getting the ball deep enough. This was Charlotte’s and Abigail’s first tennis match for the school and although not winning their matches, they combined well together and gained some valuable experience. Once again thank you to those parents that came and gave their support.  HP
