Mixed U11B/U10B Netball v Hurst

Mixed U11 - 10

The girls were keen to get their first netball match of the Spring Term underway. Today their opposition was Hurst. The girls played two games, first their U10B’s then against their U11B’s. During the first match there was not much between the two sides. Both teams made strong accurate passes, moving the ball quickly from one end to the other. Holly and Clara combined well together in getting the ball into the D. Jemima was fantastic at moving into space and pulling her defender with her to create more passing options. As the 1st half progressed Copthorne had the upper hand with most of the possession but could not capitalize and convert their chances into goals and by half time they found themselves two goals behind. The second half was yet another close encounter with both teams exchanging attempts at goals on either end, but it was Hurst that had the most successful conversion rate and winning 6-3 in the end.

After a short break and refueling ones energy, the girl’s faced Hurst’s U11B’s. This game was a lot different as Copthorne found themselves more on the defensive and had to work really hard in getting the ball up towards their shooters. Hurst’s GS was on target with all of her shots, quickly giving her team a comfortable two goal lead at half time. Copthorne kept working really well together coming up with good interceptions but their legs were beginning to tire. They did manage to attack and create opportunities but as the game drew closer towards the final whistle their passes started to go astray causing them to lose their rhythm and accuracy. Hurst continued to dominate and play their game, moving the ball on just as quickly as they received it and not allowing our girls any time on the ball and in the end coming out on top with a 4-0 win.

Team: Clara; Holly; Maddie; Madison; Ilana; Jemima and Katherine.
