U9B Rounders v Hazelwood – Lost 10½-16

This week the U9B team took on Hazelwood at rounders. Despite only being back at school for a few days and not much practice time the girls were really looking forward to playing. I also had 4 Year 3s playing in their first ever match!

Hazelwood decided to field first so Copthorne were up to bat. Full rounders were scored by Kushi Bhayani and Jemima Scott whilst half rounders were scored by Annabel Preen, Sophia Vieira and Shanaya Patel. Our total after the first innings was 5½. It was now our turn to field and Emma Nathaniel from Year 3 stepped up to bowl. Emma did a fantastic job at bowling and grew in confidence as the innings progressed. Some of our fielders were a little sleepy at times but they all gave it a good go. Hazelwood scored 7 rounders.

Now more into the swing of things Copthorne were ready to bat again! No full rounders were scored but the girls managed to get 10 half rounders bringing their total score to 10 1/2! The girls fielded well in their second innings and got 2 Hazelwood players out which was fantastic! The final score was 10 1/2 to Copthorne and 16 to Hazelwood.

A great first game girls – Emma Nathaniel was a well deserved player of the match!
