Always the biggest tournament of the year for us with 20 top schools competing. At least the weather was better this year and, to be fair, so were our performances. A comfortable win in the first game against Brighton College senior by 5 tries to 1 was the perfect start. Scores from Zac, Luke and inevitably 3 from Dan T. The power of Zac and the sheer pace of Dan were evident from the start. A bit of a slip up in the second match against St Andrews when we simply lacked the necessary physicality losing by 5 tries to 1 in a game that we were capable of winning. The final group match against the Windlesham Wolves was a rather one sided affair and took us through to the main competition to face Windlesham. This put us in the top 8 of those present, somewhere we haven’t been for a number of years.  The quarter final was an immensely physical encounter with some of the best defensive work from both sides that I have seen for a long time. At the end even the referee said it was the best game of rugby 7’s he had ever seen. We lost 4 tries to 2 but the boys can be justly proud of their performance. Well done.
