Senior Swimming v Cumnor House

1st February 2017

The Senior Swimming Squad travelled to Cumnor House on Tuesday for our termly swimming gala. The pressure was on from the outset with some of the team returning from the cross country at Brambletye just in time to get on the bus for the gala and most of the Year 6 team needing collecting from the STEM competition at Ardingly on the way. However, their commitment could not be faulted and I am proud of the way they all stepped up to the task, especially those swimming in additional heats to cover for those who dropped out on the day.

Results were varied with some excellent and well fought wins, some close loses and a few where we were clearly 2nd best. Whatever the result, we look for individual improvement from the last gala either in terms of times or key areas such as the starts or finishes. Many of those taking part had specific targets based on our work in training and I was pleased to see many clearly showing that they had listened and were working hard to make the desired improvements.

Whilst the final result went against us. I was not too disappointed based on the individual targets. As always, there’s work to do but progress is being made. Well done.
