U10 Tag Rugby Tournament at Great Walstead

This was a very exciting day as this was the girl’s first ever match. Although they have had some coaching it has been primarily touch rugby. After a quick talk from the referee our girls were keen to start. Great Walstead started with their first pass and although they came close to scoring Copthorne kept their defence and soon gained the ball. After some good passes and drive forwards Freya scored our first try. Their were some great attempts by Harriet and Tori to break free and score but Great Walstead were quick to tag them. After some good passes by the team  Emma soon scored our second try. Although Great Walstead scored Copthorne were determined to win with Tori scoring another two great try’s.  Won 4-2

Our second match was harder as Tavistock worked closely together ensuring their passes, once tagged, were quick and accurate. Although the girls worked hard to drive forward to score Tavistock’s defence was too strong; with only Micki scoring a great try in the second half.  Lost 1-4

Although we didn’t win the tournament it was great to see all the girls displaying both their enthusiasm and new skills. Their desire to win and increasing commitment to the team is commendable. Well done Lucy, Prisha, Chloe, Micki, Emma, Freya, Tori and Harriet.  LD

Players of the match Freya, Tori and Micki.
