U10 VII Hockey v Hurst – Lost 0-6

Despite the score this was a good match as I feel that the girls left the pitch having learned something. It was clear from the onset that Hurt’s positional play was better than ours; their attack was strong and co-ordinated thus making it difficult for us to defend our goal in the first half.  Nevertheless our defence improved throughout the match , with some fantastic tackling and clearing from Katie. After a couple of changes at half-time our attack was better and Copthorne had a couple of shots at goal.  It would be fair to say that the better team clearly won. However it gave us the opportunity to see where we need to improve and I am sure that if we can do that the team will be more successful in their next match. The player of the match, voted by the girls, was Katie Parkinson. Well done!  LD
