With the first centre pass in their hand Copthorne made a good start and within the first 4 minutes they managed to score. There were some great passes between our attackers and the drills practised earlier this week certainly seemed to have paid off. However Brambletye were a very strong team and soon they were scoring and by the second half both teams were equal with 2 goals.
In the second half we allowed ourselves to pass too quickly and although there were some great goals scored by our GS, Alana, Brambletye were working hard to keep up. By half time the score was 9-8 to us.
Our next 10 minutes of play were probably not our best as our marking and passing were allowing the opposition to break away. Copthorne were losing a bit of their spark. As a result Brambletye took the lead by scoring 3 more goals.
After a quick final team chat Copthorne played their final quarter and wow! They were determined to win and after some terrific overhead passes from Mallory and Ruby, both Alana and Beth scored. Our defending was at its best too; with Alayna marking her player so well that she was unable to score and both Tali and Emily making some good interceptions.
Well played girls; once again you listened and produced the goods! It was a nerve-racking match but it was great to watch.
Thank you to all our parents for their support. A very big thank you to Miss Cook who co-umpired and gave the team excellent advice and to Miss P too, who had already set up the goal posts by the time we had arrived.
