Won 16-0

Today was the first match of the netball season for the U10A team and it was lovely to coach and umpire a team, whose love of netball was evident throughout! Despite losing the toss Copthorne quickly turned over the first centre pass and then completely dominated the first two quarters. The centre court players linked well together (although at times were all gravitating towards the ball!) and a special mention must be said to Harley who was all over the court as centre, driving the ball forward in attack, but also applying the pressure and defending when needed, turning the ball over on many occasions. Ffion and Lowenna also had a good first two quarters as wings, just remember that ice cream though girls! Layla and Martha also had a solid first two quarters in defence and allowed only 1 shot on goal between them, well done girls! A special mention must also be said to Ella and Biba in the first two quarters, as when warmed up, the goals started to fly in and their movement and passing around the circle was great and lovely to watch! By half time the girls were 11-0 up, so versatility was played for the last two quarters, enabling everyone to try out some different positions and to increase their fitness after the Christmas Break!

Despite playing out of position Copthorne maintained their lead and at times there was some lovely netball played down the court. Martha, Harley and Layla all had near misses when trying their hand at shooting and were unlucky. When the whistle blew the final score was 16-0 to Copthorne, a well deserved win and good first match back. Well done to all of the U10As, a super start to the netball season and we can take away lots of positives from the match today! POM was Harley and my POM was Harley also, shared with Ella.

I am very excited for the future of this team, watch this space!
