U10A Rounders v Cumnor House – Summer 2017

14th May 2017

Copthorne opened the first innings batting and scored off the first couple of bowls. Both Keira and Ella hit two great shots. Cumnor’s fielding was tight and despite some good hits we only scored 3 full rounders. However, our girls read the game well and managed to score 9 half rounders giving us a total of 8½ with only one player being out.

Our fielding was strong and we managed to get three of the opposition out. Our bowler Ellie kept her head and played only a couple of no balls. Although Cumnor’s batting wasn’t as strong as expected a bit of mis-fielding due to panic, allowed them to score. By the second innings we were only ahead by half a rounder.

Copthorne was determined and Keira, Ella, Gabi and Annabelle scored off the first four balls. Kirsten made a great shot but unfortunately it was caught. The girls all continued to work hard and between them they managed to score another 10½.

Our fielding was much stronger in the second innings too and the girls managed to get 5 of the Cumnor team out. Kirsten made a great catch, Zara and Annabelle were a force to be reckoned with as first post and backstop. Gabi, Ella and Keira worked well together at 2nd and Amelie and Eva made some good recoveries that prevented Cumnor from scoring. Our bowler Ellie bowled outstandingly, bowling 59 good balls out of 60. It was a fabulous match; well done girls.

Player of the match Keira.
Top scorer: Keira 6, Gabi 5½, Annabelle 5.
