Copthorne got to field first and despite the constant threat of a rain downpour it was the beginning of a very exciting match. Despite some good fielding Great Walstead made some great shots. Copthorne got 5 players out with some good catches from Gabi and Amelie. Great Walstead managed to get 6 rounders nevertheless and as our girls went into bat they knew they had quite a score to catch up with.

Unfortunately our batting was not as strong as in previous matches and despite some great attempts, by the end of the innings Great Walstead were ahead by 1½ rounders.

After a couple of changes in positions Copthorne worked hard to keep the fielding tight. As a result 5 players were caught out or stumped. There was some fantastic fielding from Copthorne especially from Annabelle and Sophie who got several players out between backstop and first post. As a result Great Walstead only scored a further 4 rounders.

Determined to beat their score, Copthorne came in to bat. There were some great attempts from Keira, Amreet and Annabelle but it was Ava who really pulled us ahead with two cracking shots. It was a very close match, however Copthorne just
managed to jump ahead with two extra rounders, finally winning 12 – 10. Well done girls!

Player of the match Annabelle.
