U10A Rugby v Hazelwood – Feb 2017

8th February 2017

Today proved to be our toughest fixture to date against a well drilled and pacy Hazelwood side. The first half seemed to fly by as both teams went toe to toe with some excellent rugby being played. As the half drew to a close we managed to get our noses in front by scoring a couple of tries.

The boys knew at half time that this game was far from over and they proved to be correct as Hazelwood came straight back at us early in the second half. Both teams then traded tries as we moved into a 5-3 lead with 5 minutes to go. The game then went down to 7-a-side and no, not because I sent two people off, but Hazelwood unfortunately did not have any subs and one of their boys got injured. This meant that there was a little more space available for us to use our pace and we stretched our lead to 7-4 as the final whistle blew.

A thoroughly entertaining and competitive game that was played in wonderful spirits. Well done to all the boys.
