U10B Netball v Ashdown House

28th January 2017

Pleased that theirs was one of the only matches not cancelled the U10B’s trundled down to Forest Row with Mrs Jones and Mrs Dodson. Despite the cold the girls were keen to warm up and get started.

In the first quarter Ashdown had the first centre pass which they quickly used to their advantage scoring within a couple of minutes into the game. Our girls worked hard to keep possession of the ball on our centre pass however our spacing and movement was not quite quick enough. Despite two lovely goals from our captain Ellie, the score by the second quarter was 4-2 to Ashdown.

The second quarter was challenging for Copthorne as they were still reticent in their movement and play. The opposition intercepted too many of our throws, using it to their advantage and as a result by halftime the score was 7-4.

In the third quarter our passing and movement was better and we had far more opportunities to score but unfortunately nerves got the better of us and despite real progress, Copthorne’s score remained the same.

After a quick pep talk from both Mrs J and Mrs D, the team were ready to give their all in the last quarter. Our defenders Simi, Ava and Kirsten worked hard to prevent the opposition from scoring; which they succeeded in doing. Our forwards Robin, Isabelle, Ella and Ellie were relentless in their effort to take the ball to the D; scoring another 2 goals.

So girls well done as you never gave up. You were playing against a mixed team of U11s and U10s most of the time and you did not give up.

A special mention goes to Kimberley who was our reserve and played in the third quarter. Kimberly you really focused and made some great passes and catches. Well done!

Ashdown’s player of the match – Simi

Mrs D’s and Mrs J’s players of the match – Robin and Ellie
