On a chilly afternoon we welcomed Lancing College to Copthorne for the afternoon. The boys played 7 a side so again we rotated so every boy got a opportunity to play. In an even first half, the boys played some good rugby with their tackling much improved from last week. There was also some excellent ball presentation and rucking. However we trailed by one at half time.

The second half was different¬† – the boys seemed to worry more about the score than sticking to the match plan practised in lessons. We eventually lost by two tries but the boys sometimes let a huge desire to win effect a team plan and look to win matches on their own. Perhaps the best summary was from a parent who after the match asked “why didn’t we pass as much as Lancing ? That was the difference”.
Team games have  team responsibilities and the match will give the boys and coaches a opportunity to learn and continue to improve. Boys again thank you for your behaviour and parents your support as well.
