U10/U9 Rounders v Cumnor – Lost 8-10½

The U10/U9 played an U10 team from Cumnor today. The Copthorne squad of ten played well against the Cumnor squad of twelve. The opposition changed their players to allow everyone in their team to play in some part of the game. This meant ‘fresh’ players coming on.

Alayna J played well as a bowler and her bowling became more consistent as the game progressed; she also took a clean catch and scored some rounders as well! Grace, playing as Backstop, prevented the opposition scoring more rounders by collecting the ball and throwing it into the box.

Tanishka was very focused and manned 2nd base with tenacity, stopping many of the Cumnor girls from passing her post, preventing full rounders being scored The other members of the team, captained by Orianne, played their part and they had a good attempt at batting. Keisha, Shriya, Tia, Clarabella, Isabella and Avril enjoyed being part of the squad.

They were winning by half a rounder after the first innings but owing to a few lapses in concentration during the second innings, Cumnor were allowed some easy rounders and won the game by 10½ to our 8.

Lots of positives can be taken from the game; however this lack of concentration needs to be addressed.

Well done Tanishka for being voted ‘Player of the Match’ by the opposition. A very good choice! Mrs 2V
