U11 ‘A’ Netball v BHHS

3rd December 2016

Well done the U11 A’s! Although they lost to BHHS the squad of Alana, Beth, Freya, Alayna, Emily, Ruby H and Mallory were very competitive right up to the end of the match. The squad were just ahead after the first quarter but felt the pressure in the second quarter with BHHS pulling ahead 10-5.

After a half time team talk the girls went out fighting and managed to score four very good goals. Beth and Alana played really well as GS and GA and had to contend with some very tall defenders making chances to score a little limited. However when they could they managed to move the ball around the circle giving them some good shooting positions. BHHS came out strongly in the final quarter and although they started as quite a physical side they became more so as the game reached its final stages. Although Copthorne were a little flustered by the tight marking, on and off the ball, they still managed to work together as a team and not get too annoyed at the situation showing an improved maturity on the court. Mallory and Alayna worked tirelessly in defence and Ruby H, Freya and Emily were extremely competitive in the central area.

As I said at the beginning well done the U11 A’s for sticking at it, and supporting each other when the game wasn’t going your way. Finally, congratulations to Mallory who was voted Player of the Match by BHHS.
