U11 IAPS Tournament at Roedean

11th March 2016

The annual IAPS Netball Tournament is a fantastic opportunity for girls to see a very high level of netball being played at such a young age. As Copthorne were taking a very young team we knew it was going to  tough but we felt it would be a great experience for the girls, many of whom will get to attend again next  Our first match was against Windlesham where we scored the first goal. We worked hard to keep possession of the ball but the opposition were just that bit stronger.

Our second match was against Hoe Bridge who actually came top in our group. Despite a determined performance from our girls; we were out manoeuvred by this team.

Our second and third matches against Yateley Manor and St Andrew’s Prep were a bit more evenly balanced  we were able to score in both matches. Our match against Holmewood House was hard as they were one of the group favourites, however our girls kept their spirits up and managed to score. Our final two matches were less challenging however, it was a matter of height not really of ability. It was a pity we didn’t win any of our matches, however next year the girls will have had another years’ experience and a little bit more height!

Goal scorers: Alana, Grace and Beth

Players of the tournament: Mallory and Beth

Well done ladies you really did well. You didn’t give up and you had a go! It was my first time at the IAPS and it was a fabulous experience; we hope you all learned from it so that next year we can get to the top of our group! Thank you to Mrs Cook for all the umpiring and thank you too to Mrs Jones who organised it. LD
