Won 7½-3½

Today the U11’s found themselves playing a very different rounders match from last week. The pace was slower; however the girls still put in a sound performance. They fielded first and fielded well, with a great catch from Abigail at first post during this innings!

In this innings they also manged to stump a further four players out, three on second post by Lila and one by Abigail on first post. They fielded so well in fact that only ½ a rounder was scored!

The girls then went into bat and were sadly not as successful as last week due to the slower pace of the game, they still however managed to pick up four good ½ rounders from Emily and Isabel, putting them ahead by 1½ after the first innings!

During the second innings the game remained pretty much the same, although we decided to play 30 good balls rather than the 20 we had played in the first innings! The girls again fielded well resulting in them getting five players out, three were stumped at second post by Lila and two at first post by Abigail. Ardingly however managed to squeeze a few ½ rounders in this innings to bump their score up to 3½! The girls then went into bat again knowing they only had to score 1½ rounders to win! The girls managed to achieve this and more, with 2 rounders from Emily and some ½ rounders from Lila, Isabella, Emma, Isabel and Emily again! The final score after the 30 good balls wads 7½ to Copthorne and 3½ to Ardingly.

Despite the low scoring and slow paced game today the girls worked well as a team when fielding, with them all showing signs of improvement. Let’s keep this up and keep going girls!

POM today picked by Ardingly was Jemima and my POM was shared between Lila and Grace for their super fielding around second and third posts!

Emily 3½, Isabel 2, Lila 1, Isabella ½, Emily ½, Cassie, Jemima, Abigail, Leah, Grace, Orianne.
