U11 Rounders v Brambletye

8th May 2016

Lost 6½-10½

Copthorne found themselves playing a solid Brambletye side today, despite this they upped their game this week, especially with their fielding.

Due to little practice and lots of illness this week, changes were made to the team, which the girls managed well with.

In the first innings the girls didn’t bat as well as they have been, however between them they still managed 3½ rounders with a great rounder from Jemima, and some good halves from Abi, Grace, Emma, Orianne and Shriya. The girls then went into field and this was where the no-ticeable improvement was this week, with Emily taking two super catches as backstop and Leah one, as a deep fielder. Abi also worked hard on first post to stump out another player, as did Lila on second post who stumped out two players.

The score line was close going into the second innings however Brambletye just had the upper hand. The girls then went into bat again, but Brambletye’s fielding was again tight, not allowing the girls to score many. Nevertheless 3 more rounders were scored, again Jemima took a great rounder and Lila, Kassie and Emily all added to the score with some good halves.

Copthorne then went into field for the last time knowing they had to be just as tight with their fielding, if not tighter to win the match. This they did, with Emily taking 2 more catches, Lila 1, as well as stumping 4 more players out on second post.

Despite this super innings of fielding, our batting and Brambletye’s tight fielding won them the match 10½ rounders to 6½. It was a great effort today though from the U11s!

POM was Emily and Jemima picked by Brambletye and my POM was Emily for her 4 super catches!

2½ Jemima, 1 Abi, ½ Lila, ½Grace, ½ Emma, ½ Orianne, ½ Shriya, ½ Emily, Leah, Isabella, Kassie,
