U11 Rounders v Hurst

22nd April 2016

Lost 12½ – 22

Well what a beautiful day to start off the season! Despite having little practice and some last minute changes to the team today, the U11s were in high spirits and excited to be playing, especially the three girls who were playing in their first ever rounder’s match!

The U11s were up to bat first in the first innings and really woke up Hurst with Jemima scoring a spectacular rounder on the very first ball, of which she then managed to maintain throughout the innings, scoring another 3 rounders from her next 4 bats! During this innings the U11s were unlucky not to score anymore full rounders but there was some good half rounders from Lila, Emma, Grace and Hannah, putting them at a total of 8½.

The U11s then went into field and completely held their own, making Hurst really work. There was some good bowling from Emma and Jemima worked well as second deep, working well to help get two players out on 2nd post with Lila, and 4th post with Isabella. Isabella also took a great catch, as did Emily as backstop! After the first

innings the score line was tight, with 8½ to Copthorne and 8 to Hurst!

Therefore, it was all to play for in the second innings but unfortunately Jemima got out early on in this innings, as well as a few of the other U11s, however Lila, Cassie and Hannah all added to the score line with a rounder each, as did Leah and Isabel with some good halves!

The U11s then went into field for the final time and this time Hurst really made them work, as they had definitely stepped up a gear. Despite this though the U11s fought on and there was some great bowling and backstop work from Emma and Emily and Jemima’s fielding was again super, resulting on her working with Lila to get two players out at second post. Hurst however were the better side in this innings and pulled away. In the end the final score was 22 rounders to Hurst and 12½ to Copthorne. Although it was a loss today the U11s should definitely go away from this match with their heads held high, and I’m sure with more practice and focus the U11s will grow and improve.

POM today picked by Hurst was Jemima and Emma joint, and my POM was Jemima who performed brilliantly in her role as captain, as well as on the pitch.

Well done girls! TC
