After a few tough weeks against Great Walstead, Hazelwood and Caterham we hosted Ashdown House in what, on paper, is a slightly easier fixture. We dominated the game from start to finish with all 11 members of the squad taking their turn on the side line. By half time we had scored 8 tries to Ashdown’s solo effort and it was one of those games were it was difficult to play any structured rugby and work our way through the phases due to a lack of tackling on our opponent’s part. Still, the boys tried to move the ball away from the contact area and offload before the tackle, which turned into some useful 7’s practice.

The second half followed suit and we scored a further 6 tries with the game being stopped 10 minutes early. We all like to get a big win under our belts but sometimes it is at the detriment of learning. What we must do is put some perspective into the situation and recall being on the receiving end of a similar score line against Great Walstead last month! Our try scorers were Alistair (3), Jake D (2), Jake M (2), Antony (2), Cosmic (2), Alex, Luca and Liban but although Louis, Dhruv and Sonny did not cross the try line they certainly played their part in the build-up process.

With only 2 more regular Wednesday fixtures remaining; home games against Brambletye and Duke of Kent, we have an excellent chance to end with a winning season. Well done boys.
