U11 Rugby v Hazelwood

12th February 2016

The Under 11’s continued their up and down season with a 6-3 defeat to the hands of Hazelwood. The game looked dead and buried at half time as the visitors took a commanding 3-0 lead, however there was always a glimmer of hope when our runners got their hands on the ball. We made plenty of breaks throughout the half but our support play was lacking, meaning that we could not recycle the ball at the breakdown.

The second half brought about an exciting finish to the game with both sides scoring 3 tries each. Although this had little bearing on the outcome of the game it showed us that we could have been in with a chance of winning if we started in the same manner. Ben C grabbed the 3 tries but he was superbly supported by Charlie, Austin, Sam S and Ben B who made the valuable yards to get the ball in to the danger area of the pitch. Jacob and Sam D were alternating well in the scrum half and fly half roles to keep the ball moving and Jamie is growing in confidence with each match, upping his tackle count and carrying into contact more. Akshay also made some big carries and proved difficult to stop at times.

We get another chance against Hazelwood after half term and with the likelihood that Luca will be back from injury we will be in a stronger position to get the victory! MA
