On the back of a very good win against Pennthorpe last week the U11’s travelled down to Lancing with a view to maintain their excellent start to the season.

Christopher made a return to the team having performed well for the B’s last week and there was also a debut for Henri, who had been training well. The opening 10 minutes were a very close affair in regards to possession but we managed to get a couple of early tries to calm the nerves through Archie and Nicholas. The game then began to swing in our favour as we dominated the territory and kept a Lancing pinned in their half. Luke grabbed two more tries and Shams made it 5-0 as the half time whistle went. A very solid first half performance.

The second half followed suit as we continued to apply good pressure and limited Lancing ‘s attacking opportunities. I rolled the subs on and off throughout the half to keep the legs fresh and we managed to secure another 2 tries through Luke and Sam P to wrap up our scoring at 7. Lancing did cross the try line for a well deserved try but they never looked like taking a hold of the game. Final score 7-1 to Copthorne.

Our U11’s continue to make progress and are playing like a team more and more each week. They are an impressive group who are willing to work for each other. Next week brings a different test as we host Shoreham College. I hope to see you all there once again.
